The Challenge
An Ontario food and beverage manufacturer required a sizable, ~400 Cubic Foot, on-site carbon rebed. The customer outlined two major concerns that the selected service provider had to address:
- A requirement to minimize downtime of the carbon vessels, which directly impacts their pure water production (the facility runs 24/7 so it was critical to reduce downtime to meet production requirements).
- The facility desired to reduce costs associated with both the rebed service work (prior services with other pure water companies were extraordinarily costly) and lost production time.
Our Solution
High Purity Water Services has both deep expertise in the food and beverage industry and extensive experience with carbon rebeds and value head repairs. As a result HPWS was able to meet both key customer requirements evacuating and rebedding the ~400 CUFT of media in less than the projected customer downtime.
For large carbon rebed applications High Purity offers advanced media evacuation and loading technologies that significantly reduce down time for customers. Our automated evacuation process allows large volumes of carbon to be quickly evacuated, taken off-site, and disposed of within a single trip. HPWS takes great care to examine tank laterals and internal piping prior to reloading media of any sort. This goes a long way in avoiding cracked internal and media leakage from large rebeds, (which can lead to increased downtime and feed quality concerns).
When compared to the customer’s prior carbon rebed experiences, High Purity’s unique solutions and quality service reduced production downtime leading to a dramatic overall cost savings associated with the service.
