The Challenge
A British Columbian Healthcare University experienced a rare emergency shutdown situation on their critical central high purity water system. A new compound was introduced into their feed water and went directly into their central RO and polishing pure water units. This exhausted all pre-treat filters and reverse osmosis membranes quickly and disrupted some of their operating systems in their pure water units. The event also halted production in their critical analysis labs, clinical research labs and more, leading to a shutdown of all effected departments. Classes were cancelled for the day, and departments had to reschedule healthcare practice appointments.
