The Challenge

As with any critical healthcare installation, success hinges on more than just delivering the right equipment. It requires cross-functional alignment, hands-on technical familiarity, and clarity around commissioning, support, and system operation. That’s why HPWS brought together all key stakeholders – including our fabrication and service teams, engineering staff from the OEM (DWA), and clinical and technical representatives from the hospital – for a focused, on-site training session at our Oakville facility.

Our Solution

The goal of the session was to ensure a seamless system launch by aligning everyone involved on both the theory and hands-on operation of the system. The training covered:

  • A classroom presentation on the Reverse Osmosis (RO) unit and Heat Sanitization Module
  • Review of P&ID and flow schematics, highlighting bypass and redundancy options
  • Walkthrough of the actual stainless steel water system to be installed
  • Programming demonstration of the PLC, including customizable data point setup

For Our Team:
This was a critical opportunity for HPWS technicians to prepare for field commissioning and long-term support. The training reinforced service procedures, troubleshooting protocols, and the commissioning process we follow when installing dialysis water systems. It gave our team direct experience with the system and alignment on customer expectations.

For the Customer:
The hospital team gained early exposure to the exact system they will operate. They were able to validate design choices, understand redundancy and sanitization workflows, and define custom PLC parameters that will be implemented during startup. This kind of early engagement builds confidence and supports better adoption and performance over time.
